3 c. sugar
3/4 c. light com syrup
3/4 c. water

Directions:
Directions:
Cook these ingredients to hard ball stage (266°). While this mixture is boiling, beat 3 egg whites stiff with an shake of salt. When syrup reaches temperature, pour it slowly over the egg whites, continue beating while pouring syrup over. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla; beat until mixture holds its shape and becomes slightly dull. (Mixture may become too stiff for mix­er.) Fold in 2/3 cup of chopped nuts (optional). 1 drop of food coloring (optional). Drop mixture from teaspoon onto waxed paper.
Note: If mixture gets too stiff add a few drops of boiling water and stir and it will be easy to use again.
