3 C firmly packed brown sugar
1 C plus 2 Tbsp milk
1/8 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
In a 3 qt. saucepan mix ingredients and stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Increase heat & bring mixture to boiling, stirring frequently, until 234 or soft ball stage. Set aside to cool to lukewarm, or cool enough to hold the pan on the palm of hand. DON'T jar pan. When cool, add 3 T butter, 2 tsp. vanilla. Beat vigorously until mixture loses its gloss. Stir in nuts if desired, turn into buttered 8 x 8 pan. Continue to cool.
