1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon nutmeg
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder. Add half to creamed mixture. Add milk. Add rest of flour. Stir in vanilla. Chill overnight. Roll out and cut into circles. Bake at 350 degrees on greased cookie sheets.
