Shepherd's Pie Recipe

1 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. chopped green pepper
1/4 c. chopped onion
1 tbsp. shortening
1 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. chili powder
dash pepper
1/2 c. ketchup
1 1/2 - 2 c. mixed vegetables (cooked and drained)
3 c. seasoned mashed potatoes

Brown beef, onion, and green pepper in shortening. Drain. Sprinkle in next 4 ingredients. Stir in ketchup, water, and vegetables. Combine well and cook until mixture thickens. Put in 2 qt. casserole. Top with potatoes. Sprinkle with paprika. Bake at 425 F for 30 minutes.
