Crust:
1 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
2 tbsp. water

2nd Layer:
1 c. water
1/2 c. butter
1 c. flour
3 eggs
1 tsp. almond extract

Frosting:
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1 - 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 - 2 tbsp. warm water

Directions:
Directions:
Cut 1/2 c. butter in 1 c. flour until the size of peas. Pour 2 tbsp. water over the mixture and mix in. Round into a ball. Divide in half. On an ungreased baking sheet, pat each half until 12" long and 3" wide, and each half 2" apart.
In medium saucepan, bring to a boil 1/2 c. butter and 1 c. water. Remove from heat and immediately add 1 c. flour and 1 tsp. almond extract. Stir over low heat until it forms a thick ball, about 1 minute. Remove from heat, add eggs all at once and mix until mixture is smooth. Divide in half and spread over 2 pastry halves. Bake until golden brown at 350 F for about 60 minutes. Combine all ingredients for the frosting and beat until smooth. Spread over each half. Top with almond slivers if you like.
