1 cup shortening
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2/3 cup sour or buttermilk
4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup pecans
2 cups dates
1 cup candied cherries
1 cup candied fruit

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the shortening and brown sugar. Add eggs and beat. Add sour milk or buttermilk and beat. Sift the dry ingredients together and add to the creamed mixture. Mix well. Fold in the nuts and fruit. Chill dough for several hours. Drop by teaspoon full onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350ºF for 8-10 minutes.
