Ingredients:
1 1/2 c. sugar
6 egg yolks
3 c. milk
8 bananas
9 tbsp. all-purpose flour
3 tsp. vanilla flavoring
9 tbsp. margarine
1 box Nabisco vanilla wafers

Meringue:

6 egg whites
1 tsp cream of tarter
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Directions:
Directions:
Separate eggs and set aside the whites in a mixing bowl to make the meringue later. Mix sugar and flour in mixing bowl. Mix egg yolks with milk and add to sugar and flour mixture. Beat this mixture with a mixer for about a minute. Pour this mixture into the top part of a double boiler and cook until mixture has thickened like pudding (do not overcook). Add margarine and vanilla and mix with the mixer again. Use a dish maybe a little larger than a 9 X 13 dish and line the sides and bottom of the dish with vanilla wafers. Slice 4 bananas to cover the bottom of the dish. Pour 1/2 of the pudding mixture on top of the bananas. Repeat with wafers, bananas and pudding. Now you are ready to make the meringue.
Beat the egg whites you reserved earlier till they start to take a firm shape. Add 4 tbsp. sugar, 1 tsp. cream of tarter, 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla flavoring. Beat this mixture till creamy and it holds its shape well (about 2 min.). Spread meringue on top of pudding and bake at 250 degrees for 40 min. Turn oven off and leave in oven 10 min.
