1/4 cup melted margarine - cooled
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup chopped onion (preferably red)
1 cup cheddar cheese - grated
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese - grated
1 loaf French bread

Directions:
Directions:
Slice French bread length-wise. Mix all ingredients together and spread on bread. Bake on cookie sheet in 375 oven for 20 minutes.

I don't think mom ever bought a red onion in her life, so any onion should do just fine. She wouldn't eat a lemon cucumber (they should be green) a pear tomato (tomatoes are round and red) or purple potatoes. Any onion different from what she might have grown in the garden would be highly suspect.
