1 med. can fruit cocktail, drained
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
3/4 c. sugar
pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 3 ingredients. In separate bowl sift together flour, soda, sugar and salt. Combine all together and pour into a 9 x 9 inch greased pan.

Sprinkle 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup of nuts on top. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until done. Serve with whipped cream.

Grandma Martha was a cook at the Greenbush Hospital from 1950 to 1973. Her comments about that are "Unlike today all meals were prepared from scratch. It was a lot of work. I would work from 5am until 1pm and return at 3pm until after supper. I worked 16 hour days, 7 days a week. I liked this recipe because it was good and easy to make."
