1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg, separated
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup walnuts or pecans, finely chopped
Variety of fruit preserves
Powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together butter, brown sugar, vanilla and beaten egg yoke. Mix in small amount at a time the flour and salt.

Roll in 1 inch balls. Dip in slightly beaten egg white, roll in finely chopped nuts. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 350 5 minutes. Remove from oven. Press thumb on top of cookie to indent. Fill with preserves.

Return to oven and bake 8 minutes longer. Cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
