3 c flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 c grated cheese
3/4 - 1 c buttermilk
2 T baking powder
1 T sugar
1 stick butter
1 T coarsely ground black pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, sugar and salt into large bowl. Cut in cheese and butter, stir in pepper. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes. Gently stir in enough milk to make soft and sticky dough. Place dough on well floured surface. Pat into a 12x8" rectangle, 3/4" thick. Don't over handle dough; cut into 1 1/2" squares. Bake 15-20 minutes in 400 oven. Serve warm.
