1 cup sugar
cup shortening
2 eggs beaten
1 cup grated apple
tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda
2 cups flour
1 cup chopped pecans
1 tbls. buttermilk
tsp. vanilla extract
3 tbls. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and apples. Mix in the sifted dry ingredients to which pecans have been added. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Pour into a greased loaf pan (10 x 6 x 3). Sprinkle with the mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
