1 1/4 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup grantulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3 cups instant oatmeal
1 cup raisins
1 cup walnuts, chopped (if desired)

Preheat oven 375 Grease cookie sheets

ream together butter or margarine and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well.

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices in a separate bowl. Stir together well. Slowly add flour mixture to the butter-sugar mixture and blend. Stir in oatmeal, raisins and nuts.

Drop by tablespoons on cookie sheet.

Bake 8 to 9 minutes for chewy cookies or 10 to 12 minutes for crisp cookies. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet, remove to wire rack or waxed paper. Store in tightly sealed container.
