Cream together: 1 T soft shortening; 1/2 c sugar; 2 eggs
Add alternatingly with orange juice: 3 c flour; 2-1/2 tsp baking powder; 1/2 tsp salt; 1/2 c orange juice

Heat oil to 375-degrees. Drop by teaspoon into heated oil to brown evenly. Drain on absorbant paper. Sugar, if desired.
