"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Directions:
Combine sugar and water in saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat and simmer about 2 minutes. Add the raspberries and cook, stirring occasionally until the syrup thickens and reduces in volume, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a blender or food processor and puree on high speed. Strain. If too thick, add water, a teaspoon at a time, to reach the right consistency. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
