2 3/4 cups plain flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
Topping: 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together the dry ingredients. Cream the butter and sugar; add eggs and mix thoroughly. Add the dry ingredients; blend well. (May chill dough 1 hour if sticky or hard to handle).
Topping: In a small bowl stir together sugar and cinnamon.
Preheat oven to 400. Roll balls of dough about the size of a walnut then roll in cinnamon/sugar mixture to coat. Flatten balls to 1/2-inch disks. Place on an ungreased sheet pan 2-inches apart. Bake for 8 - 10 minutes until puffed up and surface is slightly cracked. Let cool on the sheet pan a few minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool.
