1 cups sugar
cup Crisco
3 eggs
3 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
teaspoon cloves
teaspoon nutmeg
16 ounces dates, chopped
pound candied cherries, chopped
pound candied pineapple, chopped
1 pound pecans, chopped
teaspoon soda in cup water
teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix sugar, Crisco and eggs. Mix cup flour with the spices and sprinkle over fruit and nuts. Add remainder of flour, soda, water, salt and vanilla to sugar mixture. Mix batter well. Add fruit and nuts to batter. Dough will be stiff. Drop by tablespoons on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10 - 13 minutes.
Makes 120 cookies.
