1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon soda
cup buttermilk
3 cups plain flour
1 pound dates, chopped
2 cups pecans, chopped
1 cup flaked coconut
1 pound orange slice candy, chopped

Topping:
1 cup orange juice
2 cups confectioners sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, 1 at a time and beat well after each addition. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to creamed mixture. Place flour in large bowl and add orange slices, dates and nuts. Stir to coat each piece. Add flour mixture and coconut to creamed mixture. Mix with hands. Bake in greased and floured 9X13-inch pan at 250 for 2 - 3 hours.

Topping:
Slowly and gradually add orange juice to confectioners sugar, working out the lumps. Poke holes in cake with toothpick and pour over cake. Can refrigerate for 2 - 3 weeks or freeze.
