2 cups self-rising flour
½ teaspoon cream of tarter
2 teaspoons sugar
8 tablespoons shortening (Crisco or butter)
2/3 cup buttermilk-add 1 teaspoon baking soda to buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until “pea” size. Add liquid until dough forms. Should be slightly sticky. Roll out on floured surface. Cut with biscuit cutter and place on lightly greased pan. Do not twist biscuit cutter, cut straight down. Bake on 450º for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
