Ingredients:
2 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup solid Crisco (8 tablespoons)
3/4 - 1 cup milk (may use buttermilk with 1 teaspoon baking soda added to milk)

Plain Flour: Add: 1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Place flour in large bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until “pea” size. Add milk (not all at once) or buttermilk and soda mixture, as needed, until dough forms. Should be slightly sticky. Roll out on a floured surface. Knead 3-5 times. Cut straight down with a biscuit cutter. Do not twist cutter or it will make the biscuits tough. Bake at 450º for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly brown.
Makes about 30-36 biscuits.
