4-5 cups self-rising flour
1 cup Crisco (16 tablespoons)
3 tablespoons sugar
2 cups buttermilk to which 1 teaspoon soda is added
1-2 packages yeast, dissolved in ¼ cup warm water (110 degrees)
¼ cup butter, melted

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, Crisco and sugar. Cut in shortening until “pea” size. Add yeast mixture. Add buttermilk as needed. Roll out on floured surface. Knead 3-4 times. Cut with biscuit cutter and may dip in melted butter and fold in half or brush tops with melted butter. Place on parchment paper or lightly greased pan. Bake 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until brown on top. May allow rolls to rise in a warm place about an hour or until doubled in bulk. May keep dough in refrigerator for several days before you roll out and cut.
Yield is 2-2½ dozen rolls.
