2# fresh tender green beans - 5-6" long
4-8 heads of fresh dill
4 cloves of garlic (optional)
c. canning or pickling salt
2 c. (5%) white vinegar
2 c. Water
t hot red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Wash and trim ends from beans and cut into 4" lengths. In each sterile pint jar, place 1-2 dill heads and 1 clove of garlic. Place whole beans upright in jars, leaving " head space. Trim beans to ensure proper fit, if necessary. Combine salt, vinegar, water and pepper flakes. Bring to a boil. Add hot solution to beans, leaving " head space. Adjust lids and process in boiling water bath - boiling pints for 5 minutes. Makes 4 pints
