2 c Brown Sugar
1 c Shortening
2 Eggs, beaten
1 t Soda, in cup Coffee
4 c Flour
1/2 t Salt
1 lb Dates, cut fine
1 c Sugar
1 1/2 c Water

Cream brown sugar and shortening. Add eggs. Alternately add flour and coffee. Drop on cookie sheet. Make a hole in each piece of dough and
fill with date filling and cover with small amount of dough.

Filling - Boil water, 1 cup sugar & dates until thick. Place some in each cookie. Bake in moderate oven.
