3 c Flour
4 1/2 t Baking Powder
2 1/2 T Sugar
3/4 t Salt
3/4 t Cream of Tartar
3/4 c Shortening
1 c Milk
1 Egg

Directions:
Directions:
In a 2 quart bowl measure flour; sprinkle in baking powder, sugar, salt and cream of tartar. Toss lightly with fork. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture is coarse with particles about the size of peas. Make a well in center of mixture; pour in half the milk. Toss or mix gently with fork. Add egg with remaining milk. Mix lightly with
fork; turn out on lightly floured counter top. Roll or pat to approximately 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch thick. Cut with lightly floured cutter (2" in diameter), place on cookie sheet. Bake at 400 for 12 - 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
