1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup dark molasses
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add 1 egg. Beat
well. Add molasses. Sift flour, soda, cinnamon, cloves, salt, ginger together. Add to shortening mixture alternately with milk. Bake in moderate oven 45 minutes.
