1 cup dates cut in thirds
1 cup boiling water(pour over dates)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter(measure before melting)
1 egg beaten
1 cup black walnuts
11/2 cup flour

Frosting
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup gran. sugar
1/2 cup milk
butter
boil the above until you get a soft ball
