1/3 c. butter
1 c. sugar
4 egg yolks
1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp baking powder
1 c. flour
1/8 tsp salt
Merinque on top
4 egg whites
1 c. sugar
1/8 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix well and put in 8 x 1 1/2" two layer pans then put this merinque on top.
Bake 325 for 25-30 min. Do not over bake. Put custard filling between layer.
Put one tsp baking powder added when egg whites are half whipped will keep them from falling. Lemon Filling: combine 3/4 c sugar, 4 Tbls flour and a dash of salt in top of double boiler. Add 1/2 cu water and 1 well beaten egg mixing well. Place over rapidly boiling water and cook 10 min. or until thickened, stirring constantly. Revove from boiling water, add 2 tbls. butter 1/4 c. lemon juice and 1/2 rsp grated lemon rind. cool
