2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 t. salt
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 c. margarine
4 T. cocoa
1 c. water
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 t. baking soda
1 t. vanilla
1 t. cinnamon
Icing:1/2 c. margarine
4 T. cocoa
6 T. milk (slightly over 1/3 cup)
1 box powdered sugar, sifted
1 t. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift into large mixing bowl sugar, flour and salt. Into saucepan, put Crisco, margarine, cocoa and water; bring to a rapid boil. Pour this hot mixture over flour mixture and stir well. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda, vanilla and cinnamon. Mix well and pour into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees.

Icing:

Start making icing before cake is done. Put margarine, cocoa and milk in saucepan. Melt and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts. Beat well and spread on cake while still hot. When cake is cold, cut in squares and remove from pan.

The name on mother's recipe was Mrs. Joe G. Hunter, Jr., from Opelika, AL. This is one of my most favorite cakes. Aunt Helen makes a similar cake that is delicious!
