11/2 c milk
1/3 c sugar
1/4 c butter
1 tbsp salt
2 pkg dry yeast
1/2 c warm water
1 egg, beaten
11/2 to 2 c sharp cheddar cheese, grated
5 to 6 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk. Stir in sugar, butter and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in warm water. In large bowl, combine milk mixture, yeast, egg and cheese. Beat until smooth. Beat in 3 cups flour. Stir in enough additional flour to make a stiff dough. Turn out on floured surface and knead until smooth, about 10 minutes. Place in a buttered bowl, cover and let rise until doubled, abut 45 minutes. Punch down and shape into 2 loaves. Place in 2 buttered loaf pans and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. Bake in a preheated 375 oven for 30 minutes. Remove from pans and cool.
