2 tbsp butter
11/2 c onions
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
1 can beef broth
3/4 c water
1/2 tsp worscester sauce
bay leaf
croutons
swiss cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter and add sliced onions and stir up to coat with butter. Cover pan and cook over moderately low heat for 15 or 20 minutes. Then uncover the pan and raise heat adding salt and sugar. Cook for about 30 minutes stirring frequently until onions are golden brown then stir in beef broth, water, worscester sauce and bay leaf. Simmer about 20 minutes. Sprinkle with croutons then top with swiss cheese and pop under the broiler
