2 c all purpose flour
1 T sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 c vegetable shortening chilled & cut into cubes
3/4 c buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Combine & mix dry ingredients with a fork. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture forms coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center of the mixture & add buttermilk. Quickly fold dry ingredients into buttermilk with your hands until a sticky dough forms. Turn dough onto a floured surface & gently fold over itself 3 to 4 times to form layers. Roll dough out to a thickness of 1/2 to 3/4 inch thickness & cut with a 3 inch biscuit cutter. Transfer dough rounds to a greased cookie sheet pan. Make a dimple in the center of each biscuit to help rise evenly. Brush with butter and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes until golden brown.
