3/4 Cup soft shortening (part butter)
1 Cup Sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. Flavoring (vanilla or lemon or both)
2 1/2 Cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400F
Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add sifted flour and baking powder. Roll out 1/2 inch thick. Bake until cookie bottom just starts to turn brown. 6-8 minutes. Do not over bake. To make these into a filled cookie, follow recipe cut in pairs and put one teaspoon prepared figs or raisin on 1 cookie then top with its pair. Press with fork and bake.
