1 lb dried beans (marrow, navy, pea or northern)
Smoked ham bones
3 medium potatoes
1 c chopped onions
1 c chopped celery
2 cloves minced garlic
salt and pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Wash and soak beans overnight in a large kettle with enough water to cover them. Next morning, add remainder of water. Add ham and simmer for 2 hours, until beans begin to mush. Add mashed potatoes, onion, celery and garlic. Simmer 1 hour. Remove bone, cut meat, and return to soup. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Makes 4 1/2 quarts.
