1/2 c shortening
1 c white sugar
1 c brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 1/3 c flour
2 eggs
1/2 tsp salt

6 tbsp margarine
1/2 c brown sugar
1/4 c cream
1 c coconut
1 c nuts
1 tsp vanilla

Pour 1 1/4 c boiling water over 1 c Oatmeal & let stand and cool (about 10 minutes). Mix rest of ingredients together & add to oatmeal. Boil together: 6 tbsp margarine, 1/2 c brown sugar, 1/4 c cream, 1 c coconut, 1 c nuts and 1 tsp vanilla

Pour cake mixture in greased pan. Then pour boiled mixture over cake & bake at 350 about 40 minutes. Chocolate chips & butterscotch chips may be put on top of cake before baking. The cake can also be topped with whipped cream.
