1 sliced bacon,diced(reserve fat)
1 egg
1 1/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 cup corn meal
2 Tablespoon shortening(add to reserve bacon fat)
1/2 cup blueberries.

Directions:
Directions:
Cook bacon slowly, drain, reserve the fat. Heat griddle. Beat eggs, add buttermilk and mix well. Sift together soda, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add to above mixture. Mix in cornmeal and liquid shortening and bacon fat. Fold in diced bacon and blueberries. Cook on griddle. Serve with real maple syrup.
