2 lbs bonesless chuck or round steak
5 or 6 slices bacon
1 large onion
5 or 6 carrots
5 or 6 good sized potatoes
1 c water
Salt and Pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Cut the bacon into thirds. Line the bottom of a fairly large kettle. I use a large round roaster pan. Cut the steak into small squares or strips. Place in layers over bacon, salt and pepper. Brown bacon and steak together in roaster pan. Layer of thinly sliced onions on top of meat, then thinly sliced carrots, then peeled, thinly sliced potatoes. Salt and pepper to taste. Add water and cook over medium heat or lower until vegetables are tender.

This can be baked in a 325 degree oven for about an hour or until vegetables are tender also.
