½ c. butter, softened
1½ c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. ground nutmeg
¼ tsp. ground cloves
2¾ c. sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ c. apple juice
1 tsp. vanilla
½ c. raisins
½ c. currants
1 c. chopped hazelnuts (filberts)
Apple Glaze
1/3 c. margarine
2 c. confectioners’ sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. apple juice

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl with and electric mixer, cream butter, brown sugar, eggs, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves until blended and fluffy. Add flour, baking soda, apple juice, vanilla, raisins, currants, and hazelnuts; mix well. (If dough is soft, cover and refrigerate.)

Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375ºF for 10 – 12 minutes or until done. Let cool on wire racks.

While cookies are baking, prepare apple glaze. Heat margarine over low heat until golden brown; remove from heat. Stir in confectioners' sugar and vanilla. Beat in apple juice until mixture is smooth and of desired consistency.

Glaze cooled cookies with apple glaze.
