4 egg yolks, beaten
2 c. milk, scalded
1 t. vanilla
1 unbaked pie shell
1/2 c. sugar
3/c. sugar
1/4 t. salt
1/2 t. flavoring
4 egg whites, beaten

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg yolks well. Combine with sugar and beat until lemon colored. Pour scalded milk slowly over, stirring constantly. Add salt, vanilla. Dry the pie shell slightly before pouring the mixture in. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry, gradually adding 1/2 c. sugar and 1/2 t. vanilla and let cool slightly. Spread on top of cooled custard. Bake 15 minutes at 400. Reduce heat to 250 then bake until set
