2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup shortening
1 3/4 cups buttermilk
3/4 cup molasses
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup raisins

Directions:

Heat oven to 375

Grease bottoms only of 2 8 x 4 inch loaf pans.

In bowl, combine crumbs and shortening; beat well. Add buttermilk, molasses and eggs.

In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and nutmeg; mix well. Add to graham mixture. Fold in raisins. Pour batter into pans.

Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes. Cool 5 minutes; remove from pans.

To subsitute for buttermilk, use 5 teaspoons vinegar or lemon juice, plus milk to make 1 3/4 cups.
