1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 cup milk
1/4 cup soft butter





Directions:
Directions:
Stir together dry ingredients in mixing bowl.
Add remaining ingredients and beat with electric mixer until smooth, about 1 minute.
Bake at 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
I like a greased 9" cast iron skillet. Or use a 9"
greased square cake pan.
Serve with butter, syrup, jelly or rhubarb sauce.
Makes a full meal with applesauce, baked beans and sausages.

My sister, Marian, sent me this recipe when Bill Hubbard and I got married in 1954. She said you couldn't raise a family without it. It came from our Mother, Ida Warns, and was a family supper treat all during our childhood years.
