1/3 cup flour + 1 tbsp.
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 cups whole milk
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp. butter
3 slightly beaten egg yolks
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 baked pastry shell (cooled)

MERINGUE:
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 egg whites
6 tbsp. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
It is best to cook pie shell the day before, so it can cool. Mix flour, sugar and salt thoroughly. Bring milk to scalding (double boiler) and add chocolate squares. Let them melt. Add milk mixture very gradually to dry ingredients over double boiler, stirring constantly. Cook until thick, about 15-20 minutes. Add butter and egg yolks and cook another 2 minutes. Cool and add vanilla. Make sure the chocolate mixtures is very cool and pour into baked pastry shell. Cover and meringue and bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Add salt and vanilla to egg whites. Beat until stiff foam. Add sugar 1 tbsp. at a time. Beat after each tablespoon.
