1/3 c. butter soft
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
3 tsp baking powder
dash of salt
1 c. milk
3 sq. unsweetened choc
3 egg whites (keep yokes!)

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream together butter, 1/2 c. sugar 2. Beat in vanilla. 3. Sift together flour, b. powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk beginning and ending with dry ingredients and beating well after each addition. 4. Stir in grated chocolate. 5. Beat eggwhites until foamy- add the remaining 1/2 c. sugar. 1 tbsp at a time and beat until eggwhites form soft peaks. 6. Gently fold eggwhites into batter. 7. Turn into 3x8 inch or 2x9 inch round layer cake pans greased and lined with wax paper (grease wax paper). Bake at 350 for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool in pans for 5 minutes. Turn onto wire racks.
