1/3 c. sugar
1 1/2 T butter
1 egg, well beaten
1/3 c. milk
2 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/8 t. cinnamon
1/8 t. cloves
pinch nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and butter together until smooth. Add milk and egg. Mix well. Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. Turn out onto a lightly flour board and roll out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a donut cutter.Fry in 375 peanut oil until brown. turn and do other side. Drain on unglazed paper. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar if desire
