2 unbaked pie shells

3 c. sugar
t Tbls flour
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
5 eggs
1/2 c. butter melted
2 t. vanilla extract
1 c. pecans optional

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, flour,and 3/4 c. of the buttermilk beat until well blended.
Add eggs one at a time beat after each addition, Add remaining buttermilk, butter and vanilla. Mix well.
Divide evenly between the 2 pie shells.
Add pecans, lay them in a circle around the outside edge and a small circle of 6-8 in the center.

Bake at 425 for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 and bake for an additional 25-30 longer. Pie is done with knife inserted near the center will come out clean. Cool, store in the refrigerator.

One of Bob's favorite pies is a buttermilk pie. When we were first married, the buttermilk pie recipe Bob's mom gave me was a total flop. This one, however is a hit, if you like custard style pies.
