2 eggs beaten
2 cups brown sugar
¾ cup shortening melted and cooled (use butter)
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 ½ cups flour
6 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoons salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream beaten eggs and sugar thoroughly. Add cooled melted shortening to mixture, beat and then add nutmeats. Set aside. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add 2 cups of sifted dry ingredients to above mixture. Take the balance of flour mixture and work in with the hands (kneading as in bread). Roll mixture into 2 rolls, place on wax paper and refrigerate overnight. When ready to use, cut the dough into thick sections and bake in 375 degree oven for 12 minutes. Yield approximately 4 dozen.
