1 egg
3 T crushed butter flavor crackers
1 T finely chopped onion
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp sage
3/4 lb hamburger
4 oz mushroom stems/pieces drained
2 T oleo
3 T flour
1 3/4 c water
2 beef bouillon cubes
1/4 tsp browning sauce, optional
Hot mashed potatoes

Directions:
Directions:
Combine egg, cracker crumbs, onion, salt, pepper and sage. Add beef and mix well. Shape into 2 patties. In a medium skillet, cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side or until browned; drain. Remove to a platter and keep warm. In the same skillet, sauté mushrooms in oleo for 2 minutes. Stir in flour; blend well. Add water and bouillon; cook and stir until smooth and thickened. Stir in browning sauce if desired. Return patties to gravy and cook, uncovered, over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve with mashed potatoes.

This is one of those recipes where you get a better flavor if you mix it all up 1 day, refrigerate it, then cook it the next day.
