1 C Dates
2 3/4 C Flour
1 C Sugar
2 t Baking Soda
1 1/2 t Salt
1/2 t Vanilla
1 Egg
3 T Butter, melted
1 C Chopped Nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Place dates in 2 C boiling water and let sit overnight.
Mix dates, sugar, baking soda, salt and vanilla. stir in enough flour to make a soft batter. Add 1 beaten egg, stir then add remaining flour, butter and nuts.
Put in 6 greased and floured beer cans. Bake at 350 for 30 - 40 minutes.

A Grandma Elsie recipe. Not sure you can cook in beer cans anymore. I think you may need to use bread pans.
