1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
1 well beaten egg
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 c quick cooking oats

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together brown sugar, sugar and shortening. Add egg and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Add to the creamed ingredients, mixing well. Mix in 1 1/2 c quick cooking oats. Shape into a roll. Wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate several hours or overnight or until dough is firm enough to slice. It may be left in refrigerator for as long as one week, or longer if frozen. Slice 1/4" thick. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 350 for about 10 minutes. Cool on cooling racks.
