1/2 tsp cream of tartar
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together first 5 ingredients, cut in shortening until it looks like coarse crumbs. Add milk all at once. Stir only until dough is mixed. DO NOT over mix! Turn out on floured board and knead lightly for 15 - 20 seconds. Pat out 1/2 inch thick and cut out biscuits. Bake on ungreased sheet at 450 for 10 - 12 minutes.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is the best biscuit recipe I have ever found. We love them with sausage gravy. I often use
1 1/2 or twice the amounts to make a larger amount. These bake up really well in the Dutch Oven. Nothing like fresh biscuits for breakfast or supper while at camp. Janet
