3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 cup shortening (margarine or butter)
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp soda dissolved in
2 Tbsp boiling water
1 tsp vanilla
3 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream first three ingredients. Add eggs to mixture. Add rest of ingredients (except chocolate chips and walnuts) and mix well.
Add 1 to 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and walnuts.
Bake at 350 degrees until light brown. (Don't overbake).
Let sit on cookie sheet for short period. Then remove and cool.
